Name of Project: Building Capacity in the Sunshine Coast Health Sector through Education

Project Description:

To build on the momentum created by this initial work by providing an ongoing series of professional development opportunities throughout the region drawing on the expertise available locally and elsewhere.  Training and associated consultations will be targeted at GPs, managers and workers to improve clinical skill as well as policies and work practices that will generate and sustain change within and across agencies.  A maximum of nine workshops will be held through the region; shorter sessions for GPs and longer workshops for other clinicians. Resources (including web based tools) will be developed in conjunction with existing resources to cultivate some local ownership of materials for staff, clients and managers.  The division intends to extend the health checks to give further support groups facilitated by GPs with the addition of ongoing support for young people identified through the health checks as at risk.
