Project Description:
Show an increase in understanding about how substance abuse can influence behaviour and thought processes. Show an increase in resilience and knowledge of strategies to cope with peer pressure, confronting situations and general development issues faced by teenagers. Show an increase in knowledge and understanding of the various mental illnesses, their signs and symptoms and how they can relate to substance use and abuse. Show an increase in understanding about where teenagers can go to seek help for mental illnesses and substance use issues. Show an increase in understanding of the effects of alcohol and drug use on the body. Show an increase in self-confidence when socialising with peers. Show an increase in understanding of strategies to resist and refuse peer group pressure to use alcohol and other drugs. Show greater empathy and acceptance of mental illness as a health condition that can be treated and understand that help is available in the community.

Project Description:
Identify and engage specialists in AOD/MH comorbidity to assist in the development and delivery of suitable training and development workshops. Demonstrate an increase in the capacity of the MNDRM to work with GPs, allied health professionals and other service providers to strengthen networking opportunities in local areas. Demonstrate increased participation rates of GPs, allied health professionals and other service providers participating in AOD/MH comorbidity training within the local area. Show increased knowledge and confidence in GPs, allied health professionals and other service providers in giving support and understanding to their clients who suffer from comorbidity issues. Identify local areas that need additional comorbidity services where a strong demand is not currently being met by local health professionals. Demonstrate an increased capacity to develop a more streamlined referral and protocol system which benefits the client suffering from comorbidity issues. Increased capacity to coordinate regular case discussions between services.
