Project Description:
Establish the current knowledge level of local service providers and players in relation to comorbidity issues for young people. Identify the training needs of local service providers’ related young people and comorbidity, and then develop a training program which will be an extension of the Can Do workshops, which may incorporate alternative training options such as e-learning, teleconferencing and small group/individual learning. Build capacity of local services to identify, manage and support young people with co morbid mental health and drug/alcohol conditions. Deliver the training and evaluate effectiveness for all participants.

Establish current local issues related to care and management of patients with comorbid MH and AOD issues, including current referral pathways and protocols between services. Develop a regular network of service providers involved in the care and management of patients with comorbid MH and AOD issues. Enhance service coordination among service providers via a range of support strategies. Build capacity of local services to identify, manage and support people with comorbid MH and AOD conditions. Conduct informal needs-analysis with local service providers to identify current issues relating to referral processes, continuity of care, and networking in local area regarding comorbidity. Assess suitability and relevance of current referral pathways and protocols between services, or develop draft protocols if none exist. Facilitate development of a network of local service providers, utilising a range of networking options. Facilitate the development of support strategies to engage local service providers and identify key contacts in each service to contribute to a local network.
